Briarwood Baptist

Briarwood Baptist Church, 1900 Robinhood Road and Highway 53, will offer DivorceCare, an ongoing weekly support group and seminar, from 6-8 p.m. Sundays beginning May 16 for those who are separated or divorced. There will be 13 self-contained sessions and child care is provided. The class is a combination of videos and a support group. Sessions deal with finding help, the road to healing, facing anger, depression, and loneliness, financial survival, caring for children, single sexuality, forgiveness and moving on. The Mission that Loves People

The Mission that Loves People will start a community micro program in the Athens area where each person will give a small amount into a community pot to be distributed to a selected individual. This Quarter there are three candidates that will be undergoing surgery. Individuals who participate will be asked for $5 to start the funds. Mother's Day Photo Special

The Athens Neighborhood Health Center and Marvin J's Photography Service will sponsor a Mother's Day Special on Saturday and Sunday at the Holiday Inn, 197 E. Broad St., featuring two 8x10s and one 5x7 of one pose for $20. Athens Neighborhood Health Center is a private, nonprofit, outpatient medical facility that provides comprehensive primary heath care to the citizens of Athens-Clarke County and the surrounding areas, regardless of their ability to pay for the services. Some selections will be accompanied by a Mother's Day Mass Choir consisting of singers and choirs from Athens and surrounding counties. Those interested in singing in the choir are asked to attend rehearsals at 6 p.m. Saturday. Other guests appearing in the concert are: The Hispanic Praise Band of Cornelia UMC, Union Normal Note-Singers of Northeast Georgia and the Fine Arts Ministries from Omega Worship Center and Timothy Baptist Church.
